Meet Michael Carlisle, National Truck Driver School Graduate of the Month for June 2011.

Michael traveled from Sugar Grove West Virginia to attend our school. Michael has been married for 11 and together they have one son, Nicholas, who is 11 years old and one daughter, Caitlyn, who is 7 years old.

Michael congratulations on a great family.

Prior to attending National Truck Driving School, Michael served for 5 years in an Army Aviation unit and before that he spent 8 years working in law enforcement. It seems Michael has a taste to serve his country and community. An interesting fact – Michael’s wife is also a military service member. She’s currently serving on active duty in the Navy.

To Michael and his wife, we want to thank both of you for your service to this great country of ours.

Many people have many different reasons for becoming professional truck drivers. Some do it for the money, some do it because of the peace they have on the open road, some love fact that they don’t have a boss looking over their shoulder and others just don’t like to be pinned down to a desk all day.

According to Michael what drove him to the industry is the fact that he’s always loved driving and traveling so, according to him “it made sense to me to be a truck driver. I was also influenced by my grandfather who was a truck driver as well.

In order to fulfill this desire Michael chose our school. We asked Michael why he chose National Truck Driver School and he told us we were the school that would provide him with the most behind the wheel driving time.

One thing we strive to accomplish is to make sure our graduates are actually trained to safely control the vehicle before we send them out into the industry. Our students spend the vast majority of their time out on the road with the trucks practicing their skills; not behind a desk. You can’t learn to drive a truck sitting in a classroom.

During a student’s time with us they develop relationships and bonds with fellow students and even our instructors through a shared experience. Michael is no different; he told us his most memorable moment during his training was the friendships he made while he was here. Many of these friendships will last a life time and can come in handy down the road.

Another notable item to mention is during Michael’s time with us he received 4 serious offers for employment. Now that’s the kind of dilemma we would all like to have.

After Michael struggles through his “dilemma” and finally decides which company to work for he plans on driving for awhile to gain experience and then someday becoming and owner/operator.

From all of us at National Truck Driver School,

Thank you Michael for choosing us and thank you for stopping by with your awesome truck. It is truly inspiring to all those thinking about taking the next step.

Thank you,

National Training, Inc.
