Congratulations to Jayson Barrios for being selected as National Truck Drivers School Graduate of the Month for June 2010.

Jayson attended and graduated from our truck driver training program in May 2010.

Jayson is local to us living in Jacksonville, Florida approximately 20 miles north of our truck driver and heavy equipment operator training facility. Jayson was a Senior Chief Boatswains Mate until he retired this past February after 22 faithful years of active service in the U.S. Navy.

We here at National have a few former Navy members and we can all attest to the type of job Jayson had in the Navy. A Boatswains Mate in the Navy is one of the toughest jobs around and Jayson made it to the high rank of Senior Chief during his career. This is an admirable feat he accomplished so our hats off to you Jayson and thank you for your service.

During his time in the Navy and being a Boatswains Mate Jayson had to go where the ship went and Navy ships do not stay in home port very often. Jayson spent literally years of his life out on the oceans around the world enduring separations from things we civilian types take for granted much of the time.

Enduring these separations with Jayson are his wife, Marty, and his 12 year old daughter Katelyn. Our hats off and a thank you to both Marty and Katelyn; we know the sacrifice you’ve made is just as significant as Jayson’s.

We asked Jayson why he chose a career as a professional truck driver and his answer was very common for someone from the military. Jayson told us he wanted a new and exciting way to earn a living. Trucking seems to fit very well with transitioning military people. It’s an exciting job, you travel and, for once, you get to see your own country. After serving in the military it is hard to sit still when your whole working life was constantly on the move.

Choosing a school to provide your training isn’t something anyone should take lightly. No school is the same as the next. Jayson knew this and did his research and we asked him, as we always do, why he chose National Truck Driver School to provide his Class A CDL training. He summed it up in three words for us “location, reputation, facilities”.

We asked Jayson what his experience was like during his time with us here at National and he told us he enjoyed the instruction which was easy to follow and the instructors were easy to learn from. His memorable moments were the two days of testing at the end of the course when the whole class cooked out for both of those days.

Jayson also told us, to no surprise, his favorite part of the training was driving in the truck with our instructor Sam Hogg. For those that know Sam can understand why Jayson enjoyed his self so much spending many hours stuck inside of a semi tractor-trailer with Sam.

It seems that Sam felt the same way because Sam had some comments about Jayson as well.

Instructor Comments:

“Jayson was great student and an enjoyable person to be around. Teaching him is a pleasure because Jayson is an extremely fast learner and listened very well to our instruction. Overall Jayson was a fine student and will make a company a fine driver.”

Jayson, from all of us at National Truck Driver School we want to thank you and your family for the sacrifices you have made and we want to thank you for choosing us to help you with your future plans. Please stop by and see us sometime. We would be glad to have you visit anytime.

Thank you,

National Training, Inc.
