Please meet a 19 year old that is enjoying his youth, building for the future, and making some serious cash. Shawn Pollard took to the heavy equipment as if he was born on a dozer. He learned to operate all the equipment without any problems. He did struggle a bit with the truck training. It seems the 10 speed transmissions were a “handful.”
Shawn Pollard told us that he has always been interested in heavy equipment, “even when I was little.” Because Shawn is so young, his work experience has been limited to after school jobs like a maintenance worker at a car dealership. Shawn’s job at the car dealership certainly didn’t pay enough to support his hobbies. Shawn enjoys snow-mobiling in the winter, 4-wheeling in the summer, and hunting for turkey and deer. Now that he is employed as an operator, these hobbies are well funded.
Shawn Pollard took to the heavy equipment as if he was born on a dozer. He learned to operate all the equipment without any problems. is employed by M&M Excavating, Inc. M&M is a full service excavation contracting company located in Chester Vermont. M&M offers complete site preparation services from slabs and foundations to installation of water, sewer and power. They also provide septic system installation, road construction and repair, and demolition services. M&M’s diverse services allow Shawn the ability to operate a variety of equipment for many different jobs. “It’s exiting!” Shawn is a competent operator of the Caterpillar 320, 311, 307, and 325 excavators. He can also tear up some real-estate with the John Deere bucket loader and D-5 Bull dozer. To haul it all away, Shawn can smoothly operate the Mack Tri-Axle dump truck and Caterpillar off road dump truck.
Shawn plans on improving and widening his operator skills in the near future. When we asked him what his long range plans were, he replied “I’m nineteen!” OK then, we’ll check back in a couple of years. But, until we get back with him, Shawn deserves to be a National Heavy Equipment Operator School Featured Graduate…congratulations.
